With a highly trained team of professionals and 25 years of experience, the Art Conservation and Restoration Laboratory of Michigan, LLC specializes in the conservation/restoration of paintings (on canvas, panel or mural). Our team has broad experience and is ready to treat your paper objects, textiles, scupture, ceramic and stone artifacts.
The Fine Art Conservation and Restoration Laboratory of Michigan, LLC is a proud member of the American Institute for Conservation of Historic and Artistic Works - The nation's leading professional association for conservators and preservation professionals. Our approach follows for the AIC ethical principles of reversibility, minimal intervention and respect to the original.
We advocate for the use materials known for their long-term stability and that remain non-detrimental to the work.
Our Mission
Since 2009 when we opened our doors in the lovely town of Ann Arbor, MI, we have been commited to the highest standards in conservation and restoration. The long lasting preservation of your piece is what is important to us.
Our chief conservator, Celina Contreras de Berenfeld, holds a master in art conservation and is an (abd) Ph.D in the history and theory of restoration Queen's University (Kingston ON, Canada). She did her undergraduate at the outstanding National School of Conservation, Restoration and Museography(National Institute of Anthropology and History) and has participated in restoration campaigns around the globe.
During her 25 years in the field of conservation and restoration of artistic and historic objects she has also been a visiting scholar at department of Art History at the University of Michigan, associate conservator at West Lake Conservators Ltd. (Skaneateles, New York) and head conservator of the Soumaya Museum.
